Police Procedures: NYC: Casting Episode 4

pretty little movie“PPNYC: Casting 4.”
This is number 4 in the series and it just keeps getting better: Cops and crumbly doughnuts, girls and girl parts, punching and heartbreak. Now that’s some solid comedy right? Again this show did really well at the March Channel102 screening and growing interest in the show has inspired to make a full 22 minute pilot for the New York TV Festival. . . so that’s what we’re working on next!

Police Procedures: NYC: Casting Episode 3

pretty little movie“PPNYC: Casting 3.”
Still going strong! This, our third episode in the continuing saga of law show casting, came in a solid fifth place at the Channel 102 screening here in New York City giving us a chance to fordge on and make yet one more episode for the February screening. In this episode I get to yell at two entirely different people for f-ing up my beloved show.

Police Procedures: NYC: Casting Episode 2

pretty little movie“PPNYC: Casting 2.”
Episode one of PPNYC: Casting got picked up by Channel102 after nearly tieing for first place at the October screening where only three votes seperated the top 3 slots. This is our second episode of the show which also landed in the top three for the November screening thereby insuring another episode will follow. Lets face it, cop shows are funny.

Police Procedures: NYC: Casting Episode 1

This project started with Matt Donnelly looking at our work offices and brainstorming. It’s basically about two inept casting guys who work for the Law-and-Order-esque show Police Procedures: NYC. I play the boozed-up network exec who leans on the casting duo for placing “waterheads” on our fine program. I also shot and edited the show. It was selected by the Channel 102 panel to be screened tonight so go watch it at Tribecca Cinemas!

What’s really on my mind?

pretty little movie“Infinite Zooom.”
I wanted to do one of those cool zoom shots where the camera goes from outer space to someone’s backyard but I’m deathly afraid of space and I don’t have a backyard and so instead I used my eyeball as a portal to most inner thoughts. Andrew Kramer has a great tutorial on the effect: http://videocopilot.net/videotutorials/earthzoom/index.htm

Just Talk

pretty little movie“Just Talk” - the AWARD WINNING MOVIE! This movie was made in 48 hours for . . . . you guessed it, The 48 Hour Film Project http://www.48hourfilm.com/ . Team Tiger Fight! was given a the genere of Romance on Friday night and turned in a tape on Sunday night at 7:15 pm (7:30 deadline). I was the editor on the project but the real credit goes to Eliza Skinner for wrangling the team, writing the script, directing, acting, and producing the tape. It screened extremely well at the Sunshine movie theater on the lower east side garnering three awards: Best Cinematography, Best Use Of Line, and Runner-Up for Best Acting.

Solin Glass

pretty little movieSolin Glass
My friend Marie Formichelli is a glass blower who makes awesome pieces for Solin Glass and she recently came to NYC for the Archetectual Digest Home Show. These are pieces made by Marie and Randi Solin as well as a pottery piece by Natalie Blake. I should also mention that I shot this with my 35mm lens adapter on my DVX 100a.

Mickey Splat

pretty little movieMickey Splat The Movie
In this show I play Mickey, a P.I. from the 40’s working in a modern-day office building. It’s a noir mystery with a lot of family values. Now I’m no John Cassavetes or Christopher Guest, but I do like to work with a stable of top-notch actors who don’t mind working for free, so you’ll might see some familiar faces here. Kevin Cragg deftly plays “Mr. Harp”, Gavin Speiler plays my loving son “Junior”, Chris Peterson plays the much abused “Stanley”, Andy Cook judiciously plays “Dan” and Dan Salyer smartly portrays “Andy.” Once again, I’ve collaborated with Kevin Hines to produce another top notch script which I directed and edited. But it must be said that this one would not have been made without the help of DP/Producer/Awesome Person Meg Griffiths who covered a lot more ground than was ever on paper. So if you don’t like the show blame me (and to a lesser extent Kevin) but if you do like it, thank Meg and the wonderful cast!
